Duration: 30 minutes
Location: OAT S15/S16/S17
Speaker: Timon Hertli
The PPSZ algorithm by Paturi, Pudlák, Saks, and Zane (FOCS 1998) is the fastest known algorithm for Unique k-SAT. We give an improved algorithm with exponentially faster bounds for Unique 3-SAT.
We show that worst-case formulas for PPSZ are either sparse or allow us to extract nontrivial information. In the former case, we use an algorithm by Wahlström, in the latter case, we improve the very beginning of PPSZ.
