Shatter Functions with Polynomial Growth Rates

I will discuss how a single value of the shatter function of a set system restricts its asymptotic growth. Along the way, a conjecture of Bondy and Hajnal, which generalized Sauer's lemma, will be refuted. This is joint work with Boris Bukh.
