Deep learning - should you care?

Following the news over the past years it seems that 'deep learning' is a synonym for the German phrase "eierlegende Wollmichsau". In other words, it seems that it is viewed as the method of choice for whatever problem you may have. But then: what is deep learning? -- My talk is for those (and only those!) of you who do not yet have any clue of what the phrase deep learning means: in the talk I try to give you a crash course of the essentials features of deep learning and, in addition, give you my personal view of their limitations.
